IQ Testing in Cumming, GA

IQ testing is more than just one number.  Lots of people think that IQ is one score and that it means that’s how smart someone is.  Not necessarily.  There are many kinds of intelligences, and this helps measure the components of some forms of intelligence that our academic society admires and is based on in many ways.  IQ testing includes subtests which give us some more ideas about how flexible your child’s mind is, how quickly they process information, how gifted they are visually/spatially, to name a few.  

Some areas of feedback here include:  overall ability to learn and retain information, speed of processing information, and visual/spatial reasoning among others.  This kind of IQ testing helps us narrow down what your child’s strengths and areas of struggle are.  This helps us make sense of why one subject is difficult for them versus others that seem to come so naturally to them.  

For example, I was given information that a child may be a slow learner or processor because she was having trouble in her 4th grade reading class.  She previously received testing indicating a deficiency which would require indefinite amounts of tutoring—possible for her entire academic career.  By being able to separate various components of testing, I was able to ascertain that she was simply not taught phonics in her days as an early reader.  She was able to memorize words because she was highly intelligent, but was not able to read new words by sounding them out.  She had been receiving ineffective tutoring for MONTHS.  She was then able to get the help she needed, not the help she was originally offered based on labeling her as a slow learner.
